Architectural Firm
Problem: |
The Architectural firm has some customization that works with AutoCAD r14 and they want to migrate it to AutoCAD 2002. The current customization is installed locally on each computer and they want it be located on their server so there is one location to make changes for everyone. The person that set up the customization originally is no longer at the firm. The current customization is working very well, there are a few minor problems that they would like to fix. The firm also wants the installation and configuration of their AutoCAD to be exactly the same on all of their computers. They want to set a number of company standards and don't want the users to be able to change them (i.e. shortcuts). They have a few additional features they would like to add. |
Solution: |
Review all of the current customization that is located on their computers, fix any problems and move it to a server location for a single install location. Create a installation process to insure that AutoCAD gets installed on all of the computers exactly the same. Create a startup routine that will check to make sure correct menus etc. are installed or fix any item that is not correct at startup. Add a few additional requested features. |
Outcome: |
All of the customization was located in one location to manage and make changes. The customization would repair itself at startup if things were not correct. A software install using a web page interface was created so the software install would be the same on all the computers it is installed on. |
Statistics: |
There were twenty (20) users of the current customization. The project took six (6) months to implement all the required and requested items. The total project development was 270 hours and $13,500. |
